West Shore Apartments Information to Tenants about Coronavirus (COVID-19)

3/19/2020

Your safety, health and well-being are of the utmost importance to us. We understand that there are concerns around COVID-19 (Coronavirus) and we want to assure you that we are doing all we can to protect you and our employees and prevent the spread of this disease. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) is closely monitoring respiratory illnesses associated with COVID-19. You can follow their status and recommendations from the CDC website.

To mitigate concerns, the following are suggestions to prevent the spread of any illness, up to and including the COVID-19.

Recommendations for you to Stay Healthy

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.

  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue and then dispose of the tissue.

  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched points.

  • Stay home when you are sick and check with health care provider.

  • If you think you may have symptoms of Covid-19, you can get tested at Urgent Care in Cortland and Ithaca. Those who are not sick enough to need an urgent care evaluation are being routed to the drive-by site for testing.

West Shore Apartments Measures Taken

  • All employees have received communication on infection prevention and have been instructed to stay home if ill.

  • Daily cleaning protocols with an emphasis on “touch points,” public areas, and amenities that more than one person may touch and have increased cleaning frequencies and use of disinfectants where appropriate.

Tenant Considerations

  • When maintenance requests are requested, we will need to verify whether someone in an apartment is ill or has returned within the last two weeks from a country that has a CDC Level 3 Travel Health Notice. You can review current CDC travel warnings on the CDC website.  West Shore Apartments will ask the following questions prior to performing the service:

    • Has anyone in your apartment returned from any countries on the CDC's Level 3 Travel Health Notice List in the last two weeks?

    • Has anyone in your apartment been experiencing any Acute Respiratory Illness symptoms in the last two weeks?

  • In the event of a maintenance emergency needs to be performed, staff will: (1) wear a mask and gloves while in the unit and dispose of gloves and mask immediately after work is completed, (2) wash hands in soap and water immediately after work is completed or use hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol.

  • If we are notified of a confirmed case of COVID-19 on property, the health department and all residents will be notified by email using the tenant portal (if resident is opted-in to receive email through the Tenant Portal).

  • Please learn more about the virus here: CDC Factsheet.

We are committed to providing you a clean and safe apartment & building, and as always, are here to assist you with any questions or comments.

Kind regards,

Bob, Linda, and Karla Terry & the West Shore Apartments Staff
